Dubfire & Sharam reunited in Chicago, the home of deep dish pizza, to play their first show as duo Deep Dish in eight years. Originally from Iran, the Grammy winning artists were a huge act in their heyday with their unique style of stellar house music. Deep Dish became EDM pioneers with tracks such as “Say Hello,” “Thank You,” “Flashdance,” and “Dreams (featuring Stevie Nicks)” reaching commercial success while keeping their underground credibility intact.
We didn’t know what to expect for their reunion show since Dubfire & Sharam both moved away from house music in their solo careers since their breakup in 2006. Deep Dish were always known for not being commercial but for their reunion show we think they took the concept of being “too cool for school” a bit too far. Enthusiasm, excitement, and crowd interaction were all missing from their dark set. In comparison to DJs of today their performance didn’t feel up to par.
Deep Dish’s new single “Quincy” will be out March 17th. Your next chance to see Deep Dish live is in Miami on March 29th at The Ice Palace.
