Pharrell Williams is auctioning off his famous Mountain hat for charity. The hat is now part of pop culture history since it stole the show at this year’s Grammys. The auction on ebay started at $200 and was at $10,500 by the morning of February 21st. The auction ends March 2nd at 5 pm PT. The hat comes with a Letter of Authenticity and includes free shipping. All proceeds will benefit Pharrell’s charity From One Hand To Another, whose mission is to help children “by giving them the tools and resources to meet their unique potential and empower them to nurture curiosity by learning through new technologies, arts, media and motivation.”
The hat is vintage Vivienne Westwood and Pharrell’s Grammy outfit was actually inspired by the video from 1983 for “Buffalo Gals” by Vivienne Westwood’s close friend Malcolm McLaren. The hat can be seen in the video below. “Buffalo Gals” may sound familiar since it was sampled by Eminem in his 2002 single “Without Me.”
