Interview with The Dutch Party Starter Alvaro | TURN UP THE BASS

Dutch DJ/producer Alvaro has quickly made a name for himself with his party anthems and work with Tiesto on tracks such as “Out Of Control” and “United,” the 2013 Ultra Music Festival anthem.  We caught up with Alvaro for a chat about Miami WMC, festival fun, EDM predictions, and much more! Check it out!

What do you like best about Miami WMC?

I like the most that all artists, agencies, event managers, etc are all coming together in Miami to socialize and to enjoy the week in an informal way. The whole EDM scene is there during the week and it’s good to meet up with colleagues and good friends to enjoy the music.

What parties are you most looking forward to and why?

I’m looking forward to the parties of my colleagues and good friends Carnage, Cedric Gervais, Quintino, R3hab & last but not least the 4th annual beach festival “No Sugar Added.”  I can’t wait to meet up with them because we don’t see each other that often.  It’s good to catch up and have fun!

You had a big year last year with “Welcome To The Jungle” and the Ultra Music Festival Anthem “United,” what do you have planned this year to top it?

I’m actually not planning to top something because you never know what you can expect.  There’s no formula to create a big hit!  Some things come along the way.  I’m pushing myself to work harder and get better every single day.  But as long as I enjoy making music, I’m satisfied.

What do you think is going to be the next big thing in EDM?

I think it’s going to be a mixture of many styles in one. Last year people used hardstyle kicks, minimal/drum drops.  This year you hear a lot of dance-hall and Latin influences.

How do you feel about well-known DJs using ghost producers?

Well, some people are good at playing and performing in front of a crowd and some people are very good at producing.  If you want to combine both and become successful, who am I to stop you?  Choose your own path and do what feels good!

What’s the best festival in the world and why?

For me it’s Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) because it’s one of the most versatile events in the world. When they do something they do it GOOD!
The moment you step on EDC ground, you’ll experience a festival at it’s best. They’ve got a funfair, actors walking around and the stages are fully equipped with amazing mechanisms. Basically you name it and they got it! Everywhere you look there’s something spectacular going on!

What’s your favorite non-EDM record?

At the moment “Happy” by Pharrell Williams because the song makes me happy as well.  His productions/tracks always surprise me.  He’s such a versatile artist and he brings back old to the new.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

I would be a lion because it symbolizes the “King of the Jungle.”  When a lion has something in target, he’s going for it no matter what.  I’m like that because I never stop before reaching any goal.

What’s your favorite app?

Jelly Splash, I love that app because you have to think before you act!  The longer you connect the same colored jelly together, the more points you get. This game reflects my personality because I always think over and over before I make a decision.

What do you have coming up next?

I’ve got a few collaborations and lots of solo projects coming up!  I can’t tell much about a project that’s under construction, but keep an eye on me and you will know soon!
